Donaldson Farms' Hosts
Afternoon of Fun with
Karavan of Kids Aug. 7
Back by popular demand, the Karavan of Kids returns to Donaldson Farms on Sunday Aug. 7.
Donaldson Farms, located at 358 Allen Road in Mansfield Township, will be in full corn season when the Karavan of Kids takes place under – and next to – the tent! The Karavan of Kids is a unique children's arts-focused experience, offering ongoing activities and entertainment for the young ones from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
Karavan of Kids includes musical entertainment, hula hooping, nature activities, the Awesome Art Project, Kids Tattoos, a Paint a Pot Project and Sunflower Seed Planting, and more, all for just $10 for children 2 and over. Adults are free. A wristband to the Karavan of Kids also includes a hand stamp for unlimited hayrides and a free pony ride. Face painting will be available for a small fee.
As an extra bonus, the first 15 children with a paid admission will get a FREE Karavan of Kids t-shirt! There will also be some giveaways, including a few Land of Make Believe Family Ticket Packets. Families can stay for the whole day, or for an hour or two – however much time they’d like to partake in the fun.
Karavan of Kids, presented in part by GBW Insurance, PNC Bank, Westpy Marketing, Joe Hirsh Productions, Mountain Ledge Music, and Land of Make Believe, is specifically geared to the 2-12 year-old crowd, allowing families to experience festival fun together in an exciting setting that invites participatory aspects that everyone can enjoy. Musician Karen Kamenetsky, along with members of the Artists of the Awakening including Warren County native Bryan Smith, and the incredible hooper Jessica Towle, are among the featured attractions under the tent.
Established in 1906 as a dairy farm, Donaldson Farms today is run by the third, fourth and fifth generations of the Donaldson Family. The farm currently consists of a fruit and vegetable farm market, a wholesale division and Donaldson’s Greenhouse and Nursery. The Donaldson Family welcomes your family to this very special event and many other events throughout 2011. What is "Karavan of Kids"?
When you think of a "festival", you generally think of an event where adults or young people gather to hear music, dine, and perhaps shop. Ironically, it always seems as if the small Kids Tent, seemingly an after thought, is packed to the brim with excited children.
Karavan of Kids Fun Fests take the "typical" festival format and turn it upside down! Unlike traditional festivals for adults, these age-focused events have activities and entertainment specifically geared to the 3-12 year-old crowd, allowing families to experience festival fun together in an exciting setting that invites participatory aspects that everyone can enjoy.
"Both of my grandsons said they had a great time [at this year's Karavan of Kids event]. They asked if we could go back to Wild West City next year so that tells me they really did! Doug and I too had fun being outside in the fresh air, watching the shows, and walking around. Thanks for your efforts with the Karavan of Kids group to put together a great program for the kids."
